FAQ
Feel free to get in touch if you have any burning transcription queries. Otherwise you can refer to the FAQ list below.
What format do you recommend for sending audio files?
I can work with most audio file formats – I recommend sending recordings as either an mp3 or wav file. Files can be sent to me as an email attachment at [email protected], through Dropbox, or via a free data-sending site such as wetransfer.com.
How much do you charge?
The best way to get an accurate quote is to contact me with details of your project. However, as a general guide, you can expect to pay approximately $2.20 per audio minute for a standard recording with clear audio quality. Factors that may incur surcharges include quick turnaround time, poor audio quality, background noise, groups with 4 or more participants, participants with strong accents, and complex transcription formats.
Can you provide customised transcription layouts?
I can work with you to create a format that suits your project. Get in touch if you have specific requirements.
Do you outsource your transcription work?
As the Transcribenator, I do not outsource any of my transcription work. When we start a project together, I will see it through from initial discussion to delivery.
How long do you take to finish a transcription?
The time taken to complete transcriptions depends on several factors, such as the project’s complexity, the quality of the recording, my current workload and the length of your recording. If you have an urgent project, I can provide a priority service at an extra cost. Get in touch if you need to talk over time frames.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Adelaide, South Australia.
What training have you had?
I received my PhD from the University of Sydney in 2019. My mad skills were honed while transcribing qualitative interviews for my research.
What transcription equipment and software do you use?
I work on a Mac and use F5 Transcription PRO software in conjunction with an Infinity IN-USB-2 foot pedal.
Do you include timestamps?
I include regular timestamps as a standard inclusion. If a client prefers not to have timestamps in their final transcription, I can accommodate this request.
